About Cross:
Cross is a born and raised local boy from Wai’anae, dedicated to serving his community. As an advocate for those in need, Cross has devoted his career to working with our most vulnerable populations.
Cross is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus and later furthered his education at Seattle Pacific University, where he received two Bachelor’s degrees in Life Sciences and Social Justice/Cultural Studies. He then returned to school to receive his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Hawai’i Pacific University.
Like many others, Cross’s life was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. As someone who has always put others before himself, he applied to serve in the Peace Corps where he was accepted to work with women and children with HIV/AIDS in the country of Eswatini in Africa. However, the COVID-19 Pandemic cancelled his program, and after college, he moved his life back home to Hawai’i where seeing the needs of his people sparked his governmental career. He first worked in government as an intern for Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, then under Representative Cedric Gates as a Legislative Aide/Committee Clerk, and after working with Mayor Rick Blangiardi as the Office Manager for the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Homelessness of the City and County of Honolulu Cross returned to become more involved in the Wai’anae community under Representative Cedric Gates as his Office Manager. As someone who has worked in all government levels, he is able to be a bridge between the federal, state, and city to get the job done.
He also has extensive work experience in the non-profit sector as well. He has been a Case Manager in the shelter and healthcare fields, helping to house the unsheltered and save the lives of those who are experiencing health issues throughout the state, especially in his district.
Cross is not afraid to address the challenging issues and ask the difficult questions along the way. He will be able to most effectively represent the people of District 45 because he has seen the issues first hand and continues to walk alongside the constituents as they overcome their obstacles to a favorable quality of life.
